Ambleside care home has been designed with the emphasis on luxurious and safe living for older people with a range of needs.

That includes people who need residential care, through to those living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Find out more about how we’ve designed Ambleside care home to suit people living with dementia.

Luxury and Comfort

The home is designed across two floors and each floor is divided into two wings, each with its own dining room and lounge. This helps to create an intimate and close-knit atmosphere within the home itself, which is particularly calming for residents living with dementia who can find lots of coming and going and different faces disturbing. Downstairs our comfortable, beautifully lounges open onto patios; while upstairs our two roof terraces overlook the garden.

Each of our 60 bedrooms is spacious, with an en-suite wet-room and high quality fixtures and fittings, including an adjustable profile bed, flat-screen TV, phone and internet connections and a 24-hour nurse call system. Residents are welcome to personalise their rooms with their own items of furniture, photos or treasured possessions.

A sense of place

Pictures and photos of Stratford-upon-Avon and the surrounding area in bygone times are all around the care home, and parts of the home have even been given local names too. All of this gives Ambleside an individuality and adds an extra level of reassurance for many of the home’s residents who have lived in the area all their lives.

Ambleside is easy to find on the outskirts of beautiful Stratford-upon-Avon, and the centre of town is an easy bus ride away (there’s a bus stop right outside our front door). Our proximity to Stratford train station and many nearby motorways also means that we’re well placed for visitors and family visiting by car or train from further afield, including London and Birmingham.

Enjoying green spaces

Although we’re close to Stratford-upon-Avon town centre, we’re also surrounded by fields, so on warmer days our stunning landscaped grounds offer lots of enticing spaces to explore, including a courtyard, pergola, gazebo, wildflower garden plus wheelchair accessible pathways. There’s plenty of outdoor seating, in sun and shade, whether you want to sit and chat with loved ones or watch the birdlife.

Making new friends

There are plenty of personalities here – residents and staff alike – and every new resident is given the warmest welcome and settles in quickly. We’re looking forward to saying hello to two new team members in particular, because we’re shortly going to be adopting two pet rabbits to act as our very own ‘pets as therapy’ animals.

Cuddling and stroking small animals can have a very therapeutic effect, and caring for the rabbits is bound to be a popular activity with many residents. We’ll also be looking for some help from residents and their grandchildren with naming our two new additions to the care home!

In the community

We’ve already forged close ties with local groups and organisations in Stratford-upon-Avon and love having visits from local entertainers, volunteers and schoolchildren who enjoy performing and singing for us. We’ve also linked up with local health and wellbeing professionals to ensure that residents are always feeling and looking their best. A GP, optician and podiatrist pop in to see us each week.
