Christine Da Silva, home manager

I’ve managed care homes for various companies, including Bupa, from those with 30 beds up to a 169-bed nursing home. I joined Care UK because I wanted a different challenge and to work for a renowned company known for providing good quality care.

It’s been a rewarding challenge starting up a new home: it’s a new environment for everyone – staff and residents alike; we have brand new teams and need to get used to new systems. It all takes a bit of time. However, when everything comes together it’s very satisfying.

I’ve been managing homes for a while now, but one thing I’d say to someone who is just starting out in a role like this, is always be prepared. Each day is different – and you learn something new every day.
