As soon as you set eyes on Bowes House you know this is a care home with a difference.

Bowes House care home in Hailsham blends old and new – it incorporates part of the old Lynn brewery buildings, dating from 1887 – but step inside and you’ll discover how this beautiful, purpose-built care home embodies the very latest and best in care for older people.

We provide a wide range of services to cater for different needs, from short respite stays, through to full time nursing and residential care. We are also highly experienced in delivering care for people with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Our carers undertake special experiential dementia training, developed by our own in-house experts, and this gives us real insight into what life is like for people living with this condition.

A fully tailored approach

Everything we do at Bowes House, from the care we provide, through to the activities we plan, and even the meals our catering team prepares, are tailored to residents – that way each resident receives an experience that’s as individual as they are. We get to know each resident as well as possible, sometimes we start doing so before they even move in, so that they become like a member of our own family. We get to know their physical needs, likes and dislikes, life stories, hobbies and interests, then we design a care plan that’s entirely tailored to them.

Support for you and your loved one

We also appreciate that we have a part to play in supporting residents' families. Family and friends can visit any time of the night or day and stay for as long as they like – they can even eat with their loved ones if they wish. Many of our staff know first-hand what it’s like to have an older family member move into residential care, so we do everything we can to make the transition and experience as easy as possible for everyone.

Designed for life

If you think you know what care homes are like, a visit to Bowes House may make you think again. As soon as you set foot inside our home, you’ll be greeted by our reception team, much like you would be in a hotel. And the similarity doesn’t stop there. On our ground floor is Lynn’s coffee shop (named after the brewery), plus a hair salon and a cinema with large cinema-style armchairs. Large photos and artwork around the home reflect Hailsham’s past, as well as the life of the old brewery. You can find out more about our wonderful facilities here.

We believe that giving residents a wonderful lifestyle is part of delivering great care, and these facilities are here to help residents to stay active and independent – making each day different and fun.
