Cairdean House care home is a perfect blend of modern design and comfortable furnishings.
Based in Colinton, Edinburgh, Cairdean House is spacious, light and luxurious, and has been designed with a particular focus on residents who have Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. But the building still has a homely feel, with lots of sociable spaces for residents to relax in and spend time with friends and family.
A wealth of facilities
Family and friends of residents can come and visit the care home whenever they like, day or night, and stay for as long as they wish. They’re more than welcome to join their loved one in one of the many activities our team plans every day, from gentle exercise to games and quizzes. Or they may want to catch up with their loved one over a cup of tea and a slice of cake in The Terrace coffee shop. There’s even a retro-themed kitchen if residents fancy doing some baking themselves. Our reminiscence room is full of pictures and items from yesteryear – making it perfect for helping residents to rediscover long-forgotten memories and share stories about the past.
The care home is arranged into nine suites, each of which has a communal lounge and dining area, plus an individual front door to promote a sense of independent living. The suites are named after famous local people, local army barracks and local hills. They all have a homely feel, with decoration inspired by the Scottish countryside.
Although we’re on the edge of Edinburgh, we’re in a leafy suburb and have various safe outdoor spaces for residents to enjoy, including a first floor courtyard and large terraces, plus beautiful landscaped gardens that border woodland.
