Hadrian House in Gateshead is a warm and welcoming care home.

In fact, residents and their families often compare us to a hotel (just take a look at our testimonials)

We offer cosy and inviting lounges, beautifully furnished ensuite bedrooms, delicious meals and plenty of fun activities, and underpinning it all is our commitment to superb care.

At Hadrian House we provide a wide range of care for older people, from short respite stays to give family carers some well-deserved time off, through to full time residential care.

A new view of care homes

When you set foot inside Hadrian House we think you’ll be surprised by the happy atmosphere here. As soon as we know a person will be joining us, we start getting to know them. This goes beyond their physical needs, to their personality, what they like to do, where they used to live, their hobbies and interests. Then we set about creating a care plan that’s unique to them.

We plan activities around their interests. We create menus to include the dishes they enjoy. And if someone wants to get involved in helping out around the home, then they’re more than welcome to help us to water plants, do some recycling or lay the table for dinner. It all adds up to an environment where residents feel involved, cared for – and happy.

Meet some characters

Individuality is important to us. We don’t want to seem like ‘just another care home’. Have a look outside and you’ll see that we’ve commissioned a local Gateshead artist to create a mural for the garden wall. It’s a real talking point and will be a great source of reminiscence for our residents with dementia.

If you’re visiting when the local petting zoo comes calling, you can join our residents and have the chance to handle snakes, lizards and rabbits!

And you can’t miss Albert – one of our carers. All our carers are wonderful but Albert has star quality, brightening each day with his singing. Residents are always trying to get him to audition for one of those TV talent shows…

Ground-breaking training

Our care team is also extremely experienced in caring for people with dementia. Each of us undertakes experiential dementia training which was developed by our own in-house experts. This ground-breaking training enables us to appreciate the full reality of what it’s like for our residents who are living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Everyone finds that it has a huge impact on the empathy we feel for residents living with this condition.

But the best option when you’re looking for a care home is to come and have a real tour of Hadrian House. We’ll be able to answer any questions you have and you’ll know instantly whether your loved one will feel at home here. Give us a call, pop in for a visit or come along to one of our events.
