Everything about Hartismere Place is designed to enable residents to enjoy the very best lifestyle. Your loved one can enjoy a strong sense of community in our bright, purpose-built home, with tailored group and one-to-one activities. Entertainment and outings, when possible, are organised regularly, and residents are welcome to join in with tasks to encourage independence and a sense of purpose.

Respite care

At Hartismere Place we offer short-term respite care, which we know can be a lifeline for those who are caring for someone. Whether that’s for a fortnight or several weeks, our team will look after your loved one, giving you chance to relax and recharge for all the hard work you do. Residents who have come for respite at Hartismere Place enjoy the chance to meet new people and try out new things – residents often call it their holiday too!

End of life care

At Hartismere Place, we believe that every person deserves to experience a dignified and respectful end-of-life. We work with you and your loved one, as well as local health professionals and hospice teams, to plan your loved one’s care so they are as comfortable as possible, and their wishes are arranged.

Day club

Our day club is great for those living in the community who seek companionship and fun activities. There’s always something going on at Hartismere Place. You’ll also be able to enjoy a hearty meal as well as personal care. Every member of the club is made to feel as welcome as a resident would.

Getting to know you

We take the time to get to know you and your loved one; this starts from our very first conversation. We get to know what will settle them when moving in and little things they appreciate, such as if they have orange juice with their tablets or the genre of music they listen to. 

We find out everything about them, their life story and personality, so we know what will calm them and ensure they are happy. No two days are the same for residents at Hartismere Place.

Dementia friendly environments

Our immediate surroundings can have a huge impact on our quality of life. Hartismere Place has been purpose built with dementia in mind. Open spaces and dementia friendly colours allow residents to move around the home independently; however, our dedicated team is on hand around the clock, providing discreet support and assistance.

The residents on our dementia suite can enjoy their own dedicated garden, a space to enjoy and a place where they have their say on how they would like it to look. 

Our people and training

Our people are chosen because of their passion, attitude, and caring nature. We have a multi-skilled team who have training in more than one area. Every individual is dedicated and will go above and beyond for the residents. Relationships and communication are what we pride ourselves on at Hartismere Place. 

Our specialist training gives our team a better understanding of how dementia affects the brain, and this helps the team relate to residents and give the best care possible. We also have champions at Hartismere that can provide advice and support on key areas. 

Support for families and carers

At Hartismere Place, we are there for families as well as residents. Our team do everything we can to support and reassure families. We understand seeing a loved one change can be difficult and heart-breaking, and we are here if you need a listening ear. 

We regularly host relative meetings where we share updates on what is happening in the home and it’s a great way to meet other families. Our Home Manager also operates an open-door policy for all relatives.

We also work with local support services and key members of the local community; we often host informative events on a wide range of subjects such as understanding dementia and falls prevention, to share our knowledge and expertise. 

Namaste care

We are proud to offer namaste care to residents living with advanced dementia. The purpose of namaste care is to give comfort and pleasure through sensory stimulation. Our namaste sessions are run by trained carers and involve individual caring touch, such as a hand or foot massages, music therapy, themed sensory and gentle movement sessions, or simply reminiscing.
