Care home manager bathes in beans for Children In Need

Home news

The Potteries home manager spent the afternoon in a bath of beans on Friday 18th November, to raise money for Children In Need.

Zita Turner took on the messy challenge to raise over £100 for the national charity.

Zita was nominated by colleagues to spend one hour in a bath full of cold baked beans, which used 80 tins to fill it.

Talking about the experience, Zita said: “We’re always thinking of creative and different ways to raise money for charity here at The Potteries and - not one to shy away from something a bit different – I thought a bath of beans would be the perfect way to encourage people to dig deep for a fantastic cause!

“I would like to say a big thank you to the residents, family and visitors who have sponsored me so far. While the baked beans bath wasn’t the most pleasant experience, it was worth every penny – although - I was much happier to hop into a lovely hot shower afterwards!”

The Potteries is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short term respite care. Designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its very own cinema and hairdressers, and there is plenty of space both indoors and out for relaxation and recreation.
