Cathkin House residents soak up the sun at summer garden party

Home news

Residents at a care home in East Kilbride were joined by the community for a day of family entertainment when they hosted a summer garden party.

The team at Cathkin House on Glasgow Road opened the doors to the care home for a 1950s-inspired garden party to celebrate Care Home Open Day, where guests enjoyed party food, drinks and fun games from the era. There was also live musical entertainment from Holm Street to get everyone in the party spirit, as well as a visit from the children of Long Calderwood Primary School and pet therapy with Gina from Bunny Luv.

Lynn Rossi, home manager at Cathkin House, said: “Hosting a summer garden party gave us a great opportunity to invite the local community to join us for a day of family-friendly fun and games. The 1950s theme was enjoyed by all, with many making a special effort to get dressed in their clothing from the decade and sharing memories of growing up in the 1950s.

“The residents loved taking part in the fun games and the live music really helped to create a great atmosphere. We look forward to welcoming the people of Easy Kilbride to join us again very soon.”
