Crawley care home has fundraising down to a tea

Home news

Residents at Care UK’s Francis Court care home in Crawley brewed up a storm for Dementia UK recently when everyone took part in the charity’s annual ‘Time for a Cuppa’ fundraising event.

Friends and family members were invited to drop-in to the care home for a cuppa, with some generously adding to the tempting selection of homemade cakes baked by the Care UK team.

According to activities coordinator, Maxine Tyson, the event was a great success. “At Francis Court, we’re always looking for new ways to support charities and the local community, as well as interesting events and activities for residents. ‘Time for a Cuppa’ gave us the perfect opportunity to raise funds for a worthwhile cause which is close to the hearts of residents and their loved ones, while also bringing residents and their families together for a fun day.

“Everyone was incredibly generous, and many made the most of the opportunity to put on their pinnies and get baking. One cake in particular was so impressive a last-minute decision was made to raffle it on the day. The showstopper of a cake was baked by a friend of Francis Court, Angela Sonmez, who is our receptionist’s daughter-in-law. The lucky winner, business administrator, Carley Wenham, then kindly donated the cake to a colleague for her daughter’s birthday celebrations.”

‘Time for a Cuppa’ is an annual initiative which is aimed at bringing people in the local community together and helping to raise money for Dementia UK. With an estimated 850,000 people in the UK diagnosed with dementia, the charity is committed to improving quality of life for all those living with the condition. It also supports Admiral Nurses – mental health nurses specialising in dementia care.

Francis Court care home is situated on Borers Arms Road in Copthorne. For more information call customer Relations manager, Karen Davies, on 0333 4343 030, or email karen.davies@careuk.com
