Generations come together for fun of the fair at Cavell Court

Home news

Summer fun was had by all when Cavell Court joined the community of Cringleford for a summer fete.

The team at Cavell Court care home, attended the 'Wish You Were Here!' summer fete hosted at Cringleford school and took part in the fun, games and summer celebrations.

The afternoon had a seaside theme with guests enjoying free donkey rides, a Punch and Judy show and an ice cream stall provided by Eastern Region Media.

The event was organised by Eastern Region Media (ERM) as part of a partnership between Cringleford School and Cavell Court. ERM specialise in intergenerational projects, utilising the talents of older members of the community to inform and educate younger generations.

The organisation led creative workshops with the pupils and residents including painting rocks together and singing summer themed songs.

Samantha Woods, customer relations manager at Cavell Court, said: “We all had a fantastic time at Cringleford School’s summer fete and it was a great opportunity for the residents to get together with younger members of the local community and build relationships.

“The residents loved taking part in the creative workshops with the students and it was wonderful to see the seaside theme brought to life on the day. At Care UK we understand the importance of young and older people spending time together and the fantastic sense of purpose and improved wellbeing that this can bring to both generations.”

Fiona Muller, co-director of ERM added: “Children can learn so much from older people but it is not only beneficial for them, many older people comment how much they enjoy spending time with the younger generations in the creative workshops. These sessions have been a great success and we look forward to working with Cringleford School and Cavell Court again soon.”
