Join Mill View to celebrate Care Home Open Day

Home news

Mill View is inviting local people and businesses to visit the home on Friday 16th June to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

From 11am-4pm, the team at Mill View will be opening the doors to the care home for a free event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.

Dementia Friends sessions will be held at 11am and 2pm, and Buss Murton Law will be delivering talks on Power of Attorney at 12 noon and Conveyancing at 1pm. At 3pm the home will be screening Alive Inside, a film which deals with the subject of people living with Alzheimer's and how music therapy can help improve their wellbeing.

Mill View is also inviting local businesses to visit the home and register to join East Grinstead Dementia Action Alliance, with the aim of helping to raise awareness and make East Grinstead a dementia friendly town. There will also be a number of stands at the home, including Age UK East Grinstead, The Dementia Action Alliance, Buss Murton Law and East Grinstead Library, who will be providing information on the support they can offer.

Debbie Wheeler, home manager at Mill View, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people through lasting relationships with the local community across the generations, so we’re looking forward to working with a number of organisations to make our community more aware of those living with dementia.

“We cannot wait to open our doors to the community to showcase everything Mill View has to offer and the difference care homes make to residents’ lives and their wellbeing. We have lots planned for the day and hope that the local community will benefit from the support which will be available.”
