Leamington Spa care home resident has the honour of revealing brand-new suite

Home news

Priors House resident, 95-year-old Gordon Buckley, was given the honour of officially opening the final suite at the £6 million care home on Old Milverton Lane, in Leamington Spa.

Pupils from Telford Infants School on Kelvin Road were also called upon to lend a helping hand for the opening, when they were invited to choose the name of the final suite. The pupils decided to name the suite after Queen Victoria, who has a statue in the local park and gave the town its royal title in 1838. The Victoria Suite will accommodate 25 residents and each of the bedrooms will benefit from an ensuite wet room and feature high-quality furniture and soft furnishings.

Home manager, Julia Joy, said: “Gordon was the first resident to move into the final suite at Priors House, so it seemed very fitting that he should be the one to perform the all-important ribbon cutting.

“This is a really proud moment for all of us at Priors House. At Care UK, we do not like to rush the opening of a new suite as it is important that every resident is given time to feel happy and comfortable in their new surroundings, and we ensure everything is place so we can provide the highest standards of care.

“We have built a warm, welcoming community here at Priors House and it is great that we are now in a position to open the final area of the home. We have experienced continued demand since we first opened our doors and we are really looking forward to welcoming new residents over the coming months.”

This beautiful care home in Leamington Spa provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care.  Designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its very own cinema and hairdressers, and there is plenty of space both indoors and out for relaxation and recreation.
