New appointments strengthen The Potteries care home

Home news

The Potteries care home in Poole, has welcomed two new senior team members: home manager, Zita Turner, and customer relations manager, Sue Barrett.

Zita, from Poole, has taken to the helm of the 120-strong team at The Potteries, with responsibility for the day-to-day running of the care home, which is situated on York Road in Broadstone.

Having had a career in the care sector spanning 21 years, and with experience of working in hospitals, maternity units and residential care homes, Zita brings a wealth of relevant skills to her new role.  Zita joins The Potteries from Care UK’s nearby Mitchell House care home, where she held the position of respite and business office coordinator with responsibility for admissions.  When Mitchell House closed its doors in August 2014, Zita successfully managed the transfer of 42 residents to their new home at The Potteries.

Zita said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as home manager for The Potteries.  This is a wonderful opportunity for me as I am a caring, compassionate person and have always enjoyed helping people.  My favourite part of the day is walking around the home and speaking to everyone; and I am looking forward to ensuring the Care UK team helps to make a difference to each resident.”

Sue Barrett from Wareham has been appointed as customer relations manager to provide the all-important link between prospective residents, their friends and families, and the care home team. Sue will also act as the lynchpin between the home and the local community, forging relationships with key individuals, groups and agencies.  Having previously worked in the financial services sector, Sue brings a vast amount of customer service experience to her new position.

Karen Seabrook, regional director for Care UK, said: “Zita and Sue are highly experienced, skilled people who have not only had successful careers to-date they are also very passionate about caring for others.  The roles of home manager and customer relations manager are integral to the smooth running of the home and to the wellbeing of residents, and these newly appointed senior level professionals have already hit the ground running at The Potteries.”

Situated at 187 York Road in Broadstone, Poole, The Potteries is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as sensitive end of life care and short-term respite care.
