The kettle’s on at Field Lodge as it prepares to host a tasty fundraising event

Home news

Field Lodge is asking the people of St Ives to join them for coffee, cake and a chat to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

From 10am - 12 noon on Saturday 29th September, Field Lodge is taking part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and hopes local people will join them in supporting the millions of people facing cancer in the UK.

Residents and visitors will be able to enjoy a relaxing morning sharing a cuppa with friends, along with a tempting selection of homemade cakes and treats – all of which will be available for a small donation to Macmillan.

Every year Macmillan organises the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in kitchens, offices and village halls across the globe to fundraise for people living with cancer. Since the very first coffee morning in 1990, over £200 million has been raised for the charity, enabling it to support individuals from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond.

Home manager, Linda Martinez, explained why Field Lodge is taking part in the Macmillan Coffee Morning: “Sadly cancer is one of those diseases that seems to touch almost everyone at some point in their lives either as someone who receives a diagnosis themselves or knows a family member, colleague or friend who develops it.

“We wanted to do our bit for World’s Biggest Coffee Morning to show our support for all the amazing things this charity does – from grants for those unable to work to the amazing nurses. It also gives us an excuse to put on a bit of a party and invite local people, family and friends to join us, have a chat and help raise some money to support this highly regarded charity.  I do hope lots of local people, family and friends join us on Saturday 29th September.”
