Meet our friendly care team

Our people make Queen’s Court the welcoming, high quality home that it is. Each of us is passionate about ensuring that each resident receives care, and enjoys experiences, that are personalised to their unique needs, interests and wishes. Find out more about us on these pages.

Norbert Sidyk
Deputy Manager

I joined Queen’s Court in 2009 as a Care Assistant, and as my career progressed, I moved into management roles, including Team Leader and now Deputy Manager. Care UK has a clear vision and values to deliver the best care for older people.

As Deputy Manager, it’s important to be self-motivated and have a willingness to learn, but you also need to be able to work in a team and communicate well. You must be open and have a transparent approach to managing your team.

Seeing residents’ smiling faces gives me a big motivation to do this job. Any time where I can take a moment to chat with residents and listen to their stories is my favourite part of the working day. Providing high-quality care is the most important part of my role, and it makes me proud to see the positive difference we can make on residents’ and their loved ones’ lives.

When I’m not working, I enjoy watching motorsports like Formula 1.

Ali Mirza
Lifestyle Lead

I was an actor and dancer before joining Queen’s Court. The care home is a lovely, homely environment to work in, and I love that I can be myself and entertain the residents.

As a Lifestyle Lead, you need to be a good entertainer and a fast thinker. Creative skills are also good to have, but most importantly you need to be yourself in order to build a good bond with residents and their loved ones.
We host a range of different events in the home, and it makes me proud to ensure the residents are living happy and fulfilled lives.

Outside of work, I still enjoy acting and dancing!

Jasbir Bal
Head Chef

I first joined Care UK in January 2022. I’ve worked as a chef for most of my career and I worked as a Lead Chef for British airways, focusing on their special meals production for flights.

To work well in this role, you need to lead by example and have a good listening ear. The importance of communication in the kitchen is a key priority for me and attention to detail on presentation. I enjoy cooking and developing menus in my job and I’m always thinking of ways to better the dish using the same elements, so that in mind, I look at the product, and presentation from our resident’s point, then reflect on the hard work.

In the future I would like to be within the development team to project new ideas and share my experience or develop junior chefs.

Away from work, I enjoy doing projects and going to car meetings as I have a classic car and I enjoy meeting others who share the same interests.

Sylvester Akawung
Business Administrator

I decided to join Care UK as it is a reputable care provider dedicated to fulfilling lives. As the Business Administrator, my role requires me to be well organised, patient and able to communicate with people from many different backgrounds.

I love recruiting new colleagues and welcoming them to the team on their first day. Attending to enquiries and admitting new residents is another important part of my role here. I’m proud to help residents live fulfilling lives at Queen’s Court.

When I’m not working, I enjoy watching football.

Lorraine McLoughlin
Receptionist

I feel very lucky to work at Queen’s Court, I absolutely love my role here. I’ve been a Receptionist for the majority of my career. I used to pass Queen’s Court every day, and when I saw this position advertised, I knew this was the role for me.

As a Receptionist, you need to have a friendly, kind, compassionate and caring nature. I have made such special relationships with the lovely residents living in Queen’s Court and their families. My favourite part of the day is wishing the residents a good morning.

I make sure that every person who walks through our doors is treated with the utmost respect, and I pride myself in answering the incoming calls within three rings.

When I’m not working, I like to make projects out of wooden pallets with my husband out in the garden. We’re currently making a wishing well for Queen’s Court!
