WINNER Best Individual Care Home 2017
Judges praised the team’s enthusiasm and caring and considered approach, and were impressed with the innovation shown throughout the home by team members, as well as the home’s ‘outstanding’ CQC rating.
The judges praised the many meaningful activities that take place at Broadwater Lodge, and the continuous development of the home. Most recently, the team created a ‘pet corner’, where relatives and team members can bring their pets in for residents to spend time with. They have also opened a pub within the home. And when a resident expressed a desire to keep chickens, team members and residents built a chicken coop and bought four chickens, which residents love caring for.
Angela Bookham, home manager at Broadwater Lodge, says “We are thrilled to have scooped one of the most prestigious awards at this year’s Care Home Awards. We’re so proud that Broadwater Lodge has been named Best Individual Care Home and this really is testament to the dedication of each team member.
“We ensure that everything residents do or experience is meaningful and life enhancing for them, and we’re delighted that this has been recognised. The awards ceremony was a wonderful night and we look forward to celebrating this second national award win at the home with the residents and team members.”
Care UK also received high commendations – like silver medals – in five categories at the Care Home Awards:
