Description
NHS Clinical Assessment & Treatment Services (CATS) have been set up to provide patients with easier and faster access to diagnostic, assessment and treatment services for a range of conditions.
The health care treatment services are performed by ophthalmologists and are carried out on a referral basis, which means the patients referring GP or optician will have explained the reason for the referral to their patient prior to treatment.
The Ophthalmology CATS gives NHS patients more choice and is helping to reduce NHS waiting times for ophthalmic treatments.

Services
A wide range of ophthalmic treatments are provided including general ophthalmology clinics, cataract clinic including pre-op assessment, nurse lead glaucoma service and a one-stop minor operation service where patients are consulted, diagnosed and treated in the one visit.
