A specialist facility for ASD

If you have and/or care for a young person with autistic spectrum disorder and residential care is the only option, Care UK offers two specialist facilities in the south west, Knapp Farm and Durleigh Road. Both provide care and education for young people aged between 10 and 18 who are experiencing disruption within their families as a result of  Aspergers, Autism, ADHD, Tourettes and mild learning difficulties.

Both locations provide a nurturing environment and therapeutic support. Our dedicated staff are all experienced and trained in working with ASD and provide a homely space where the young people who stay with us can feel valued and take pride in their surroundings.

For each young person we help we;

Discuss length of stay depending on individual needs.

Provide a settled environment during the course of the stay.

Help the child to gain greater control over the behaviour which negatively impacts upon their lives and relationships with others.

User therapy to help the child to make sense of his/her life experiences and regain a sense of worth and value.

Work on the underlying causes of the behaviour and so help to reduce the child's propensity to self-harm or to harm others.

Successfully reunite the child/young person with family or friends or provide a substitute family placement.

Identify those children who require very special resources without which their mental health in adulthood could be affected.

Support them through their transition into a more independent placement.

Respect the different cultural backgrounds of the young people and their families with regards food, clothing, religion and physical care and ensure that the young person's ethnic identity is retained and nurtured.
