Rural placements

Our rural residential placements are designed for children aged between 10 and 16, with a specialised service offering child care services, education and psychotherapy in a safe and calming environment.

We provide:

• Medium to long-term residential child care placements for young people who need higher than normal levels of supervision.
• Access to our registered special schools.
• A programme of education that can provide flexibility and a great deal of individual teacher input.
• A professional service which includes essential fun and spontaneity.

We do this by:

• Providing a living environment which is suited to individual needs and that reflects the value we place on each young person.
• Providing stimulation and opportunity through daily programmes which are tailored to meet individual needs.
• Risk assessments, care plans and quality assurance that ensure a clear focus and a confident, responsive staff team.
• Monthly progress reviews against the care plan, meeting statutory regulatory and good practice targets.
• Ensuring that formal classroom work is supported by experiential and vocational activities linked to ASDAN (Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network) and ABLE (Activity Based Learning Experiences) Awards.
• Produces a 24-hour curriculum which routinely exceeds the 25-hour full school week.
• Providing staffing levels that meet individual need, are risk assessed and appropriate to the environment.

Our success:

• We believe that any young person at Key Stage 4 attending our Registered Special School for 12 months, will attain at least one GCSE or equivalent.
• In 2006/2007, every Year 11 student in our care met or surpassed the Government target for GCSE passes.
• Young people develop emotionally as a consequence of their environment.
