Semi-independence services
Care UK Children's Services semi-independence homes specialise in meeting the needs of young people who are not yet emotionally or practically equipped to cope on their own.
We provide:
- Accommodation and support for young people aged between 15 and 18 years of age.
- Each has their own bedroom and 24-hour staffing from a dedicated and highly trained staff team.
- Renewed self-confidence and self-esteem.
- Experience and guidance through to independent living.
We do this by:
- Offering support and guidance, which will lead to the young people gaining sufficient skills to enable them to feel comfortable with living an independent life.
- Creating positive attachments with our young people to accelerate their learning of social skills and behaviour management.
- Actively promoting the concept of rights and responsibilities, allowing our young people to learn through the consequences of their behaviour, while safeguarding them from any undue harm.
- Encouraging our young people to take part in formal and informal group meetings, Keywork and therapy sessions.
- Providing further education, training and employment opportunities, and working with relevant agencies to achieve this.
- Assisting with practicalities after it is appropriate for the young person to leave our direct care, such as using our extensive knowledge of the housing options available to young people and strong relationships with private landlords and family placements.
Our success:
- Successful placements at local colleges arranged via Connexions.
- Gaining the ability to live independently both locally and in their home area.
- Support from our staff and relevant Aftercare Team via Pathway Plans.
- Life skills gained include, enabling employment and finding careers for some of the hardest to place young people.
Credentials
- We have been awarded Investors in People.
- We have been awarded the ISO 9000 quality assurance award.
