New Orthopaedic NHS Treatment Centre opens its doors

A new state-of-the-art Orthopaedic NHS Treatment Centre has opened its doors to provide access and choice to NHS patients across Trent and South Yorkshire.
Patients who choose the new NHS Treatment Centre will benefit from shorter waiting times, an opportunity to be assessed in one session, by all the necessary medical staff, at one location just three or four weeks before their operation, and a comprehensive aftercare programme. Patients will also be able to choose a date and time convenient to them for their operation.

DMS Awarded NHS National Framework Agreement Contract
We are proud to announce that Direct Medical Services (DMS), Care UK’s specialist medical recruitment agency has been awarded approved supplier status on the new National Framework Agreement (NFA) for Medical Locums.
Over the last three years DMS has worked hard to deliver a reliable service to the NHS, supplying suitable GP or psychiatric cover when national contract suppliers have been unable to do so. Now as an approved supplier, DMS is committed to working with PaSA to ensure the Framework is fully complied with whilst continuing to offer a best value, first class service.

First ever Night and Day Centre under development
Care UK are developing what is believed to be the first ever night and day centre for older people with dementia. The centre is being built in the grounds of Appleby House, an existing Care UK service in Epsom and is being developed with the support of the local Rotary Club.
The aim of the service is to support and enable people to remain in their own homes whilst also providing respite for carers and families. The Night care element of the service centre will offer support for dementia sufferers and their carers from 5pm to 9am which most traditional homecare and day care services do not.
The centre which is planned to open in early 2006, will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and will provide meals, bathing services and activities as well as hairdressing, chiropody, dentistry and optician services.

Care UK is delighted with the positive feedback from the assessors, which recognised the hard work of the staff and the high standard of service provided. The review also reported that both service users and stakeholders including the PCT were very satisfied.
The service provides care and support to service users with moderate to severe learning disabilities within community based accommodation. The service is contracted to Essex County Council and is part of the council’s hospital reprovision project.

Poole Borough Council has appointed Care UK as the preferred bidder for an innovative service transfer. The Council intends to transfer residential, day care and homecare services to be operated as an integrated dementia care service later in 2005. Care UK's winning proposals involve the replacement of the Council's remaining residential care home with a larger, state of the art resource centre facility which incorporates the day care centre and the office base for the homecare service as well as additional services not currently provided by the Borough.
