A GP practice previously managed by NHS North of Tyne will soon be operated by Care UK.
Grainger Medical Group and its branch will be run by Care UK from 1st August 2012. The Grainger practice will eventually become part of the new health centre being planned at Caroline and Maria Street, Benwell in Newcastle’s west end scheduled for late 2013.
Chris Reed, chief executive of NHS North of Tyne, which works on behalf of Newcastle and North Tyneside Primary Care Trusts and Northumberland Care Trust said: “We’ve very pleased that organisations with a proven track record in delivering high quality care as well as providing value for money for the public purse have been successful after an extensive procurement exercise.”
The existing practice teams will be entitled to transfer with the practices to Care UK,
Mike Frayne from Care UK said: “We are really looking forward to getting to know the patients and the practice teams working at the Grainger Medical Group and its branch. We’ll bring our experience in running GP practices as well as hospitals, clinical assessment and treatment centres and out of hours services.”
