Newly refurbished local care home officially opened following £1.7m renovation

Highlighted home news

A local care home has been officially re-launched after a £1.7m renovation – which included a new cinema, salon, bar and café.

The Mayor of Salisbury, Atiqul Hoque, and the local community joined residents and their relatives at Care UK’s Salisbury Manor, on Shapland Close, to officially reopen the home with a special celebration.

Salisbury Manor has recently undergone a £1.7m renovation which included the complete redecoration of all communal areas including new dining rooms. The home’s suites have been reconfigured to enable residents living with dementia to enjoy a safe outside space, and large specialist rooms have been constructed for residents requiring end of life care to allow families to stay.

The special event saw guests take part in a barn dance and were treated to a traditional summer barbecue, specially prepared by the home’s talented Head Chef. The celebration saw resident Peggy Chipperfield and the Atiqul Hoque, Mayor of Salisbury, cut the ribbon to officially re-open the care home.

There were fun activities following the official proceedings, including meeting friendly animals including bunnies, an owl, a tortoise and a lizard from Feather, Fangs and Furries in the courtyard.

Skye Williams, General Manager at Salisbury Manor, said: “Our grand launch celebration was a huge success, and it was the ultimate way to commemorate such an important milestone for Salisbury Manor. We are very happy with the renovation and environment we have created here for residents and families. Every element has been carefully considered in order to build a high-quality, luxury care facility that will allow residents to live active and fulfilling lives.

"I would want to express particular thanks to residents and their families who have been so patient and understanding during the works.

"It was great to see everyone having a good time. It was certainly a memorable day!"
