Darlington Court in Rustington held an open afternoon to say thank you for local support
The staff and residents at a Rustington care home have been saying a special thank you to the many people who helped them during 2009.
The Care UK run Darlington Court care home held a special open afternoon with a buffet for a wide group of helpers. The 61-bed care home that looks after frail older people, including those with physical disabilities, invited social services staff, commissioners, and doctors as an appreciation of their support in the past twelve months.
Also on the guest list were palliative care teams, therapists and other local residential Home Managers. They were given the opportunity to view the facilities and find out more about the services offered and meet the team.
With many issues surrounding care for the elderly currently high profile in the news, such as the danger from falls and the costs of care, Darlington Court thought such a gesture of thanks couldn’t have been more timely.
Said Linda Clements, Darlington Court Home Manager, “Homes such as ours rely a great deal on the goodwill and support of many people in the local community. Our residents very much appreciate that goodwill as do our staff. We felt this was a nice way to thank them for that help and once again emphasise how important an issue the care of the elderly is.”
