Walk-in Centres

NHS Walk-in Centres

Care UK operates a number of NHS Walk-in Centres across the UK providing free services, including health information, advice and treatment for a range of illnesses and minor injuries without having to make an appointment.

NHS Walk-in Centres have been introduced to help people with busy lifestyles who need access to flexible and convenient health services. The centres are run by experienced nurses, and GPs. Walk-in Centres do not replace local GP or hospital services but complement them by providing more patients with convenient access to a range of treatments for minor illnesses and injuries. The services operates on a first come, first served basis, unless someone is acutely unwell and needs immediate attention.

The Centres treat a range of conditions including:

• minor illnesses
• cuts and grazes
• minor scalds and burns
• strains and sprains
• bites and stings
• minor head injuries
• ear and throat infections
• emergency contraception
• minor skin infections / rashes
• minor eye conditions / infections
• stomach upsets
• coughs, colds and flu-like symptoms
• other common illness
• asthma
