I’m an experienced nurse, district nurse and nurse prescriber and have worked in hospitals and the community. I moved to Addington Heights in 2017 as I fancied a new challenge. Working in a care home gives you the chance to get to know, and bond with, the people you’re caring for, which makes a role much more rewarding.
Our residents are very different and have interesting stories to tell and wide-ranging needs. Each of them needs and deserves a high standard of care, and it’s my job to ensure this is what they always receive.
My reward is seeing residents with a smile on their face, looking relaxed. We believe in treating residents like they’re members of our own family, and our caring approach extends to their family members too. We do all we can to relieve any anxieties they have. Family is all-important: I spend much of my free time with my family, especially my grandchildren.
