I joined Care UK in 2023, my previous role was a Senior Nurse and Clinical lead.

To be successful in this role you need to have a good approach to your colleagues, personal skills and a positive attitude.

My favourite part of the day is going around in the morning, chatting to each resident and having a cup of tea. I enjoy being part of a really good team, who are dedicated and committed to providing the very best care.

I have been a part of the Care UK team since 2014, previously working in the care sector.

There are a lot of skills that are needed for this role, including good communication, understanding, and caring. Most importantly, to have a passion for making a difference to peoples lives.

My favourite part of the day is seeing the residents enjoying the activities whether that be seated chair exercises or enjoying a baking class.

My biggest career highlight is becoming Lifestyle Coordinator at Catherine Court, I thoroughly enjoy my role and the team I work with.

I’ve worked for Care UK for a long time – first as a Care Assistant in one of the London homes and then here at Catherine Court. Care UK is a great company to work for, so, when I moved out of London, I was keen to stay working within the organisation.

A big highlight for me was being given the opportunity to move from working as a carer into the Lifestyle team. I love spending lots of quality time with residents and their families. I was also very proud when I was nominated for an activities role.

Coming into work each day, I never know what the day will bring, but whatever we have planned, it’s our goal to make residents smile and to support them to enjoy a meaningful, fulfilling life.

Outside of work I enjoy walking my dog, socialising with friends and going into London to see my family. I look forward to my holidays too!

I have a care background: prior to joining the team here at Catherine Court I cared for young adults with learning disabilities. I was keen to work with older people living with dementia, as that’s a big interest of mine, so I made the move to Care UK.

I’m passionate about ensuring that every person we care for has their needs met and is supported to live a fulfilling and rewarding life. The key is knowing each person very well so you know what that looks like for the individual.

Care UK has a superb reputation for its dementia care and for its innovative approach. It partners with leading academics in dementia research and this means we’re at the forefront of thinking and developments in this field. Everyone in the team is supported to develop their knowledge and skills around dementia care, and that gives us the confidence to deliver the best care to our lovely residents.

Looking ahead to the future, I’m looking forward to getting to know the residents and their families better, to continuing to work with the great team at Catherine Court, and to continuing to enhance my knowledge of dementia.

I’m proud to work in care, I find it rewarding helping residents live a fulfilled and joyful life. The morning is my favourite part of the day as I get to go around the home and catch up with colleagues and residents.

To be successful in this role you need to have good time management and be able to have a variety of tasks on the go. I enjoy supporting the team and most importantly greeting people who walk into the home with a nice bright smile. In my spare time I like to travel and experience different cultures.

I was a store cleaning manager before joining the team in 2022. I was keen to work within a care home as I wanted to make a difference, and I feel I do that here at Catherine Court. 

To be a Head Housekeeper, you need to listen and gain the trust of your team. We have very high standards and it’s important we work together to ensure these are maintained. The best part of my day is when I get time to chat to the residents.

In my spare time I enjoy line dancing. I have written three new dances and have had them published online.  

I joined Catherine Court because I like helping people, and I worked as a Care Assistant before taking a maintenance role. In this role you need to be able to work well in a team and be patient. You also have to have good maintenance knowledge and be good at working things out.

The best part of my day is spending time with residents, talking to them and seeing that I have put a smile on their faces. I love knowing that I make a difference in someone’s life, and I feel proud when I can work out a solution for the problem in hand.

Outside of work, I ride motorbikes and have a couple of horses. I also enjoy doing a bit of fishing.
