We will encourage your loved one to keep active and independent doing activities that are meaningful to them.
When people are engaged in activities and experiences that relate to their interests and hobbies, they are happier and more fulfilled – in that way, we’re all the same. The team at Cherry Orchard therefore designs activity programmes that are tailored to residents' interests and wishes.
Choose your activity
Among our most popular activities are music therapy, cinema afternoons and visits from professional entertainers. We organise themed evenings or afternoon teas on special occasions, and there are regular outings for pub lunches or shopping trips. Many residents are very independent, and love getting out and about. We always make sure that everyone who wants to do an activity, can. We do regular one-to-one activities with residents.
Explore the home
Familiar, routine tasks can be helpful for some residents, so there are people who like to make their own tea, or help with the washing up, laying the tables for lunch, or keep our houseplants looking healthy. We have an old car in the garden that residents enjoy tinkering with: some residents used to work in the local car plant and still enjoy checking the vehicle.
A strong community spirit
We also love welcoming members of the local community to Cherry Orchard – the visits from local schoolchildren are always a highlight, particularly at Christmas when they come to sing carols or stage their nativity play.
We understand the importance of faith to the people we care for, so we have developed strong links with people from different faith groups and places of worship, who visit regularly.
