I’ve been at Clara Court since 2009, when I joined the team as a care assistant. I joined because Care UK has a clear vision for older people’s care which I believe in. I’m also passionate about providing high quality care and I want to make a difference to the lives of the people we care for.

Another rewarding part of my role is empowering colleagues to ensure that residents live their lives in the way they want. I enjoy engaging and motivating colleagues and seeing them develop and succeed.

Each day is different in this role. I enjoy having the chance to continue learning and developing my skills, and I love spending time with residents, supporting them to continue to live happy and fulfilling lives.

When I found out how great an organisation Care UK was, I knew it was the perfect place to learn and progress. I had been a full-time student when I started and I’ve worked through the ranks at Clara Court to Deputy Manager. I enjoy learning something new each day, completing my deputy manager programme, and supporting and leading my team.

My favourite part of the day is when I go into each room and see that my colleagues and residents are happy. It makes me feel good to tick off my daily targets and have meaningful one-to-one conversations with the people we provide care for.

My interests are spending time with my family, taking my children out and helping with their school projects. My perfect way to unwind is in front of the TV watching a good film.

Since receiving my level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care I have wanted to help others. Joining Care UK has allowed me to bring joy to peoples’ lives. I really enjoy the positive team spirit from my colleagues and I’m grateful for residents’ positive response to us. No two days are the same at Clara Court, so I am always kept on my toes – which is why I love what I do.

As an outgoing and bubbly team, we help provide fun and creative projects for everyone to enjoy. I try to provide the best care possible while bringing a smile to people’s faces. At home I keep myself busy playing board games and I welcome the creativity of knitting and crocheting.

Zineb Soussi - Head Chef - Care UK

I started working for Care UK in 2006, and I’ve worked as a senior carer and team leader. I’ve always been passionate about food, and being creative with food, so I made the move to head chef. I love it!

I particularly enjoy going around the home and chatting to residents about what they’re enjoying on the menu, and what else they’d like to try. It’s the best feeling seeing them smiling and looking forward to meal times. I know we’re doing something right. 

There’s such a great atmosphere at Clara Court, which is helped by the fact that everyone supports each other to do their best work. Colleagues are happy, residents are happy and relatives too.

I’ve worked at Clara Court for over ten years. I first applied to join the home because I’d heard a lot about it. It has a superb reputation. I love that I get to meet a huge variety of people each day, and work with a great team of people to support wonderful residents and relatives. 

There’s a special atmosphere and positivity that shines from our colleagues, from the top down. Everyone at Clara Court is treated like part of a family. My own progression to become the home’s business administrator has been possible with the support of the great management and team. So it was fantastic to see our team achieve an ‘outstanding’ in our latest CQC report.  

Rob Hayward - Maintenance - Care UK

I’ve worked in property management, building and maintenance for over 20 years – I’ve even made furniture. I also helped to grow my father’s cleaning business to be a successful venture. However, I joined the Clara Court team in 2018 because I wanted to be part of a caring team. 

In this role it’s important to be conscientious about health and safety, and have a caring and empathetic attitude towards residents’ needs. I enjoy coming in to work in the mornings and doing my checks, walking around and saying hello to the residents. It’s very rewarding being part of the ‘outstanding’ team at Clara Court and making a difference to people’s lives. 

When I’m not at work I like to build wooden furniture. I’ve even started doing some sculpture.  

Oormila Holuss - Head Housekeeper - Care UK

I had heard a lot of great things about Care UK, so I was delighted to take on the role of Head Housekeeper in 2020. Each day requires showing support to my colleagues, following set routines and instructions, and working towards our targets. It’s wonderful to be working with such a dedicated group of people. I enjoy working as part of a team and the positive feedback we give to each other.

In my spare time I love going for bike ride adventures with my family and exploring nature. I also enjoy going for long walks and cooking with my husband.
