At Colne View care home in Halstead, residents play a full and active role in home life, starting or joining clubs and even sampling new dishes for our catering team.
Our caring and passionate teams continue to go above and beyond to ensure residents’ lives remains as normal and busy as possible. Small socially distanced groups of residents are encouraged to mix within the home, where they are welcome to unwind with a cup of tea, enjoy a stroll in the garden or take part in an activity together.
Enjoying delicious food
Our residents’ meetings are always a good forum for positive discussion and we work hard to ensure that we act on feedback as quickly as we can. Residents told us they wanted more roast dinners each week as well as lighter bites, like fish fingers, so that’s what we’ve arranged. And when residents told us that they didn’t like the sausages we were serving, we cooked up a selection of different varieties and held a tasting session so residents could select their favourite.
Everyone looks forward to mealtimes and our chefs work hard to serve up tasty and nutritious snacks and meals. There’s even some friendly rivalry between them each week in the form of their Saturday ‘specials’ when they vie to serve up the most popular dishes.
Keeping busy whatever the weather
There’s always something going on at our care home here in Essex. Our gardening club is busy all year round, as is our cooking club. Residents in our Halstead care home love doing arts and crafts, playing games, doing movement to music and having reminiscence sessions, to name just a few of the other activities we organise. They’re great options for keeping active, whatever the Essex weather has to offer.
