At Ellesmere House, residents can take part in a wide range of engaging one-to-one and group activities and outings.
With our Activity Based Care approach, we support each resident to stay as independent as possible and to live a life of their own choosing. Some individuals enjoy helping out with everyday tasks around the home, such as setting the table or baking delicious cakes. Others find fulfilment in reading the morning newspaper, discussing current affairs or listening to the radio.
Activities for everyone
We offer lots of different activities, all based around the interests of residents. Arts and crafts, painting and music are just a few of the popular sessions we run.
Residents enjoy lots of interesting cultural outings too. We go on trips to the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew, the theatre, museums and historic houses. We also go to see the Oxford Street lights at Christmas and for special shopping trips to high-quality department stores like Harrods. Of course, during COVID-19, our activities have looked a little different, but the team have worked hard to continue favourite things to do whilst maintaining social distancing, as well as creating some new activities so residents always have plenty to keep them happy and entertained. We’ve also embraced new technology, using electronic tablets not only to help keep in touch with loved ones, but also to enjoy virtual entertainment such as streaming concerts, or even to learn new skills.
Enjoying good food
We offer a high quality dining experience at Ellesmere House, with delicious prepared meals from our chef, completely tailored to the residents dietary requirements. The chef also runs a weekly 'meet the chef' session to get feedback on the past week's meals and to get suggestions for the week ahead. Our dining rooms have a cosy atmosphere, with each table positioned in front of a window so that residents can enjoy lovely views over our gardens while they eat.
Services and support
A GP comes to Ellesmere House every Monday and Thursday, and residents are free to continue using their usual private doctor if they have one. A chiropodist comes in every month and other community support services visit as needed.
A hairdresser is available in our salon every Tuesday.
Local churches offer regular services and Holy Communion at Ellesmere House. We can arrange for representatives from nearby places of worship to visit residents as required.
A part of the community
Ellesmere House has strong links with the local community in Chelsea. Before COVID, volunteers often came to spend time with residents, who also receive invitations to afternoon tea or to see new exhibitions in the area.
