Elmstead House - Daily life

Daily life

At Elmstead House care home, we take the time to get to know your loved one, creating a life story book all about their life, family, jobs and interests.

We believe in supporting your loved one to continue enjoying the things they love – living in a care home is just another part of life. If your loved one enjoys keeping busy with everyday tasks, we’ll support them to help around the home, whether it's making a cup of tea or planting flowers in our gardens.

Varied and meaningful activities

We run daily group and one-to-one activities all tailored to residents’ interests. There’s something different happening every day, from quizzes and pamper sessions, to games, arts and crafts, baking and bread making and reminiscence. We also keep fit with gentle movement and exercise sessions, walks, ten pin bowling and tea dances. Of course, during COVID-19, our activities have looked a little different, but the team have worked hard to continue favourite things to do whilst maintaining social distancing, as well as creating some new activities so residents always have plenty to keep them happy and entertained. We’ve also embraced new technology, using electronic tablets not only to help keep in touch with loved ones, but also to enjoy virtual entertainment such as streaming concerts, or even to learn new skills.

Stay in or take a trip

Elmstead House has its own cinema room where your loved one can watch their favourite films. Our treatment room is all set up for indulgent foot spas, aromatherapy and hand massages too.

We’re in a great location for outings. Popular destinations for trips include London Zoo, Brent Cross shopping centre and the RAF Museum in Hendon. We also go further afield to Windsor Castle or Hampton Court Palace, or to the seaside towns of Southend and Brighton; which we are looking forward to doing again when safe.

Good food and happy times

As well as the tasty, healthy food that we serve every day, we also like to create special meals and dining experiences for residents. On Valentine's Day, we set up a 'fine dining' restaurant for couples to eat together. Our team provided silver service and we took photos so that everyone had a memorable keepsake of the evening.
