The Elmstead House team is passionate about enabling every person we care for to live fulfilling lives, with superb care and support. Your loved one is free to do as little or as much as they wish – we will support and encourage them to take part in activities, outings or to enjoy the entertainment we organise. However, we always respect their choices and decisions.

I joined Care UK in 2017.

No two days are the same when youre a Home Manager. In other roles Ive implemented Namaste projects in different care homes and thats something Care UK is rolling out in 2020 and beyond, which will be exciting.

Im also enjoying creating a busy community feel at Elmstead House because it benefits residents, relatives and colleagues. Were looking to create more areas in the home for meaningful engagement, and were planning an exciting garden project which will involve rescue chickens! Its all designed to make residents happy and to give them purpose. If theyre happy, relatives are happy and the team are happy too.

Outside of work my three grandchildren keep me busy, as does my rescue dog, Archie. I like to meditate when I can as it helps me to unwind.

One of the best parts of my job is seeing and chatting to the residents and their families, and helping them in any way I can.

Theres a lot to juggle in this role, so you need to be flexible and have good time management skills. I support the Elmstead House management team, and help the other teams in the home if they need me. I love getting involved in activities when I can and learning more about the residents lives. Im looking forward to getting stuck into the garden project too.

I actually began work at Elmstead House as an agency (temporary) chef but I fell in love with the place and became a permanent fixture! My background is in five-star hotels, including The Ritz and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Knightsbridge, as well as in all the royal palaces in London.

My experience has given me a good grounding, as I need to be able to deal with any requests ASAP: some residents like to eat things that are ‘off menu, so you never quite know what youll be asked for.

The best part of my role is when I take the food to the residents and I have a chat with them. Its fascinating learning about the people we care for, and we have a little joke.

I joined the Elmstead House team in 2010.

I joined the Elmstead House team in 2010. I wanted to make a difference to older people’s lives.

I always strive to do my best for residents and relatives, going the extra mile for them whenever possible. I love supporting different people and working as part of a big home team. There’s always lots to learn from other people and always something happening at our Hendon care home.

The proudest moment for me was becoming Head Housekeeper here at Elmstead House.

Away from work, I enjoy going out with my family and spending time with them.

I started working for Care UK in 2014.

I started working for Care UK in 2014. It’s an impressive company, with over 100 care homes, and it has a good reputation. I was keen to be a part of that. I love using my nursing skills to help residents with even the smallest tasks. When they thank you or smile, it’s all you need.

I enjoy working as part of the great team here at Elmstead House. We’re committed to providing quality care for the people we care for, and great support for their families.

In my free time I like to go long walks, meet friends, visiting new places and catch up with a good book or TV show.

I was a school site manager/caretaker for 16 years, but a change of direction in my career, and a relocation, led me to move my skills to the care sector in 2019.

I was a school site manager/caretaker for 16 years, but a change of direction in my career, and a relocation, led me to move my skills to the care sector in 2019.

I love the challenge of ensuring that the home is the best it can be at all times. I also enjoy the variety and hands on nature of my role – making things good again and having to turn my hand to anything. It’s helpful to be able to work well under pressure, to think logically and to be friendly, and a good listener.

Being able to spend time chatting to the residents is one of the highlights of my job, and helping them in any way I can. I was honoured to receive the Going the Extra Mile award from my colleagues after just two months of working here.

When I’m not at work I enjoy travelling, DIY (obviously!), walking and music – I like remixing music when I can find the time.

The nurses at Care UK are highly skilled and receive sector-leading training, which enables them to keep developing expertise in different clinical fields from dementia to palliative care.

Lifestyle

Our dedicated lifestyle teams work hard to organise a range of activities and events at our home. From gardening and baking to quizzes, music sessions and even live entertainment. Above all, we get to know your loved one to make sure our activities are tailored to suit their interests and hobbies.

Home support roles

From catering to maintenance, housekeeping to administration, our home support teams play a crucial part in ensuring residents enjoy an exceptional and safe service every day.


All our teams get to know residents to ensure they provide a service that’s designed around their unique needs and tastes. 

Infection control

Each of our homes have a trained Infection Control and Prevention Champion – they are responsible for carrying out daily infection control audit and ensuring cleaning protocols are meticulously applied.
