Meet our friendly care team

It is the people who make our home a truly happy and caring one, and at Bishops Manor, our experienced team of dedicated professionals undergo our own in-depth training programme. The whole team works to make sure that residents' needs are at the heart of everything they do and that personalised care is always provided.

Thomas Bampfield

General Manager

Thomas Bampfield

I love being able to make a difference to a resident’s day, and having compassion, empathy and good communication skills are key to that.

When you’re busy, it’s easy to become focused on the task that you need to achieve, but it’s important to spend some time listening to residents and understanding what they’re experiencing. It can make all the difference to a person.

I’m looking forward to helping to make a positive impact on the lives of residents and their families.

Sarah Broadhurst
Deputy Manager

Caring is innate within me. I am a qualified nurse, and I obtained my degree in 2012. I spent a significant amount of time working in acute care throughout hospitals in the Midlands. I also spent a large amount of time caring for my grandmother and took time off work to become her full-time carer. I started at Bishops Manor in 2022 as a nurse, and since May 2023 I have been the Deputy Manager.

I love now being able to oversee the care that takes place at Bishops Manor. We have won awards for the care we deliver; our residents are at the heart of everything we do, and I am proud to be part of the Bishops Manor family.

At weekends I love baking, spending quality time with my family and exploring the countryside.

Annette Stockham
Activities Lead

My name is Annette Stockham. I am originally from a small mining village by Sherwood Forrest in Nottinghamshire. I moved to Solihull 30 years ago. Twelve years ago I became an Activity Manager and luckily found my vocation. One of the most rewarding parts of my career to date was being part of a team that won the Best Dementia Team in the whole of the UK. Supporting people to live with purpose is a great passion of mine and I find my work to be incredibly rewarding. I can reach anyone’s spirit with a intuitive based approach, kindness, empathy patience, music and laugher, and a bit of banter for good measure. I love being creative and creating an uplifting atmosphere is key for residents and visitors. My hobbies include photography which I have a diploma in, although I am always learning. I have two gorgeous children and three grandchildren - they keep me very busy in my spare time.

Ben Powell
Head Chef

I have always had a passion for food and have wonderful memories baking with my grandma. I studied catering for three years at the Birmingham College of Food, and then my career began in gastro pubs. I have been a chef for over 10 years, and I thoroughly enjoy working in the care sector.

Working at Bishops Manor, I love learning new cuisines for residents and cooking for different faiths and cultures. I enjoy the buzz and pace of working in our busy kitchen, and love that everyone pulls together to deliver excellence for the wonderful residents and their family members. I am very proud of my team.

Food has a powerful ability to bring families together, and if there is ever a special occasion being celebrated in the home, my team and I are more than happy to accommodate any special requests, including birthday cakes for residents. We always accommodate the themes and flavour preferences residents have. I always enjoy speaking with residents and their family members – you can find me in the kitchen!

Sheila Evans
Business Administrator

I have worked as a care Home Administrator for well over 10 years. I head up the administration and reception team for the home. Recruitment and selection is also part of my remit. Please feel free to ask if you require any assistance from myself or my team. I love working in the care sector and it is very rewarding to see happy residents. We really are one big family.

Jeannette Brown
Head Housekeeper

I have worked within housekeeping for over 20 years with my last post at Aston Villa Football Club. This is the first care home I have worked in, I love the feel of our home, and our team and most of all the residents make it a wonderful place to work. It is an honour to be looking after residents and making sure they are comfortable in their own space as well as the other areas in the home. My team have a great caring approach and will always have a chat with residents and help and support them as much as we can. We are all one big happy family here.
