Trusted care in

Welcome to Grangewood

Grangewood is a purpose-built care home in the village of Shiney Row. Our bright and welcoming care home provides quality residential care for older people, including those living with dementia.

All of the bedrooms at Grangewood have en-suite facilities and are stylishly furnished. Each has a 24-hour nurse call system and telephone, internet and television connections. Your loved one is welcome to bring their own treasured possessions and items of furniture to help them to feel more at home.

Our home has a strong community atmosphere. Most residents have lived locally all their lives - as have many of our colleagues. Often, when a new resident moves in, they're instantly among old friends and familiar faces.

Meet the team

The dedicated and experienced team at Grangewood will provide your loved one with care that is completely tailored to their individual needs and wishes.

One of my favourite parts of the day is chatting to residents and listening to their life stories. There’s so much we can learn from the older generation.

Joleen RaynerHome Manager

Each member of the Grangewood team is passionate about delivering expert care that’s tailored to your loved one’s unique needs. That passion and dedication is epitomised by Senior Carer, Caryn Walmsley, who won the Northern Echo Dementia Carer of the Year award 2021.

What others have to say

Here are just some of the comments we’ve received from family, friends and residents at Grangewood care home.

As well as looking after my wife they look after me as well. When I can't get to the home, they inform me about her day; they take time out to phone me to let me know that she is alright.

Mr R R, Relative of resident, November 2019

They know what he wants and they call him by his first name, they made the transition from hospital to the home as good as it could be.

Mr John Maughan, March 2019

They do seem to take the resident's feelings into account. They do treat people with respect.

Relative of a resident, March 2019

My relative goes to the newsagent most mornings to get the newspaper, staff have a lot of different activities, people come in and do activities and my relative loves it. They have amazing staff all the way through, domestic staff kitchen staff laundry staff and the carers.

Relative of a resident, November 2018

This home is wonderful, it’s like a home from home. Staff got to know my mother’s needs very quickly, they cater for my mother. Staff ring me up if anything changes.

Mrs Jean Cumming, November 2018
