Anthony Densley - Home Manager - Care UK

Anthony Densley

Home Manager

I started working for Care UK in 2013 and I left after seven years progressing from working as a nurse to a Deputy Manager. I returned in April 2021 as the Home Manager.

Prior to joining Care UK I worked as a nurse and I also served in the Army for 19 years where I first completed my training.

To do well as a Home Manager you need to be caring, understanding, approachable, a good listener, organiser, and communicator.

My favourite part of my job is talking to the residents and seeing them smile and being content in the home and seeing that my staff are happy in their working day.

My biggest career highlight to date has been passing my conversion course to qualify as a Registered General Nurse.

Outside of work, I enjoy watching football and I support Tottenham for my sins. I also enjoy socialising with friends and family at the pub or in a restaurant and travelling abroad.

Ioana Avram - Deputy Manager - Care UK

I first joined Care UK in 2016 as a nurse and I returned in 2020 as a Deputy Manager. Before I worked here I studied nursing and worked as a community nurse while also volunteering in the same hospital.

To work as a deputy manager, firstly you need to be caring, compassionate and dedicated to your residents. You also need to be approachable for staff and flexible with your schedule.

One of the things I enjoy most in my job are my morning walkarounds seeing the residents in the lounge enjoying their coffee and having a chat with me.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and I also enjoy taking walks in the evenings. 

Deborah Abeyratne - Administrator - Care UK

I joined Care UK in 2002, having previously been a manager of a community care business.  

I love every aspect of my role and enjoy being part of a team who strive to make a difference to the lives of the residents and their families.  My role involves being approachable, adaptable and able to work well under pressure.  I also need to be able to communicate well with people as my role includes speaking on the telephone to people, as well as face to face meetings. 

All the team are happy and enjoy the role they play at Haven Lodge to fulfil the lives of the residents - it feels like we are one big happy family.

I joined Care UK in 2005 having previously been working as a chef in a new restaurant. Although successful in my previous role, I decided I would like a role that benefitted the community -and as I lived locally, thought this role was perfect for me.

I am really passionate about what I do, am hardworking, committed and accommodating.  I love to be proactive and find out what residents like and go out of my way to ensure their needs are met – I just want to make the residents happy by giving them what they ask for.  

Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day, so I love making it for the residents as well.

In my spare time I love sports, travelling and going on holiday.
