I had previously worked for Care UK in 2016 when I managed a home in London, but since relocating to Essex I’m pleased to have joined the lovely team at Haven Lodge in 2020. I have a background in nursing and am proud to have worked as an A&E nurse for the Royal London Hospital.
To be good in this role you need to be caring and have a good clinical background. My favourite part of the day is my walk round in the morning as I get to say hello to everyone. I’m so proud and grateful to my staff who are working hard to make everyday a good day for each resident. Haven Lodge is a community that I’m glad to be a part of.
Outside of work I like to unwind with music, I enjoy live music and am currently learning to play the violin. I also like to read and do Pilates.
Before joining Care UK in 2005 I attended the Royal Army Medical Corp apprentice college, followed by the Army School of Nursing. The biggest challenge in my professional career was studying to convert from being a State Enrolled Nurse (SEN) to a Registered General Nurse (RGN).
To do my job, you need to be approachable, understanding and have good clinical skills, of which I have in abundance. I love coming to work each day and catching up with the residents and the team – Haven Lodge is very much a ‘home from home’, and has a very relaxed, happy and friendly atmosphere.
I have a background in care and joined the team at Haven Lodge in 2019, as I wanted to help the residents here enjoy the simpler things in life. I have a caring nature and enjoy seeing people smile.
From daily activities to organising special themed parties at the home, no two days are the same for us. But no matter what the day brings, I always look forward to the individual time I get to spend with the residents. Seeing them relaxed, smiling and laughing is so very rewarding.
I joined Care UK in 2002, having previously been a manager of a community care business.
I love every aspect of my role and enjoy being part of a team who strive to make a difference to the lives of the residents and their families. My role involves being approachable, adaptable and able to work well under pressure. I also need to be able to communicate well with people as my role includes speaking on the telephone to people, as well as face to face meetings.
All the team are happy and enjoy the role they play at Haven Lodge to fulfil the lives of the residents - it feels like we are one big happy family.
I joined Care UK in 2005 having previously been working as a chef in a new restaurant. Although successful in my previous role, I decided I would like a role that benefitted the community -and as I lived locally, thought this role was perfect for me.
I am really passionate about what I do, am hardworking, committed and accommodating. I love to be proactive and find out what residents like and go out of my way to ensure their needs are met – I just want to make the residents happy by giving them what they ask for.
Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day, so I love making it for the residents as well.
In my spare time I love sports, travelling and going on holiday.
Hello, my name is Teddy! I am a Yorkshire terrier cross and I love spending my time with my mum Lisa at Haven Lodge care home. The staff and residents are very lovely, they voted to name me ‘Teddy’. Probably because they like to give me lots of fuss and cuddles.
My favourite toy is my squeaky monkey which I often carry around the home with me. I also enjoy taking walks by the beach here at Clacton-on-Sea, but I have to be careful of the many seagulls that fly around. They tend to give me a bit of a fright.
