Sara Barbosa

Home Manager

Sara Barbosa

I was keen to join Care UK because it is a well-respected organisation with impressive values and a strong portfolio of homes around the country.

I was keen to join Care UK because it is a well-respected organisation with impressive values and a strong portfolio of homes around the country. I joined Invicta Court at the beginning of its journey as I was keen to be involved in commissioning a new home and shaping the standards of care, right from the start.

My favourite part of the day at our Maidstone care home is when I get the chance to talk to the residents. Listening to their life experiences is fascinating, and by getting to know the people we care for, we’re better able to provide person-centred, high quality care. I am enjoying working with the team to build Invicta Court’s reputation for great care, to enable residents to live their lives to the full, and to make residents’ wishes a reality.

At Invicta Court I'm also the Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) Champion for the home. It is my job to establish and maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness so that residents, colleagues and visitors keep safe.

Away from work, I love spending time with my husband and young children. When I can, I like to get out into the sunshine for some vitamin D and to recharge my batteries. I return home to Portugal at least twice a year.

Jaime Jukes
Customer Relations Manager

Before joining the Invicta Court team in 2019, I was a Business Administrator in another local care home. I’ve also spent many years working in marketing. I love working in the care sector, and Care UK has a great reputation for its forward-thinking approach to care. When I saw this opportunity, I was keen to get involved – it’s exciting to be part of a team that’s built a home from scratch.

Seeing residents laughing and enjoying their day gives me a huge buzz. We offer fantastic activities and social events for people to enjoy. Deciding to move a loved one into care is very difficult for families. Being able to guide families through that journey and make the transition easier is vitally important and very rewarding.

Outside of work, I have twin boys who keep me on my toes. I also enjoy reading, eating out and travelling the world. I’m probably happiest, though, simply being outside in the sunshine – when we get some!

Clare Glister
Clinical Lead

I have worked for Care UK for the last 10 years in various roles and homes, my last role being that of a Deputy Manager.

I had previously worked for the NHS when a friend of mine, who was working as a carer within a Care UK home, suggested I may enjoy working for them. I had never worked within a care home before. I decided I would give it a try. Working for Care UK has certainly dispelled myths about care homes for me.

As Clinical Lead, I feel I have found a role which gives me a perfect work/life balance. Each day I like being able to be one of the first people to wish the residents ‘good morning’ and they often say it’s nice to see a smiley face. In this job role it is essential to be helpful, approachable and supportive to others.

The feeling I have made a difference makes me immensely proud each day.

Amy Roberts
Lifestyle Lead

I was delighted to join Invicta Court, as I had already worked with some of my colleagues here and was aware of Care UK as a well-established company with a good reputation.

As Lifestyle Lead it is important to be effective at planning while taking into account residents wellbeing, both physical and emotional, their needs, abilities, and interests. I believe that to work well in the role, you need to be hardworking, reliable, imaginative, and conscientious. You also need to be able to adapt quickly in any given situation. Have a caring and understanding nature and an ability to plan in advance.

I enjoy spending time with the residents living at Invicta Court. I spend time each day getting to know them and tailoring activities to suit their individual interests and needs. Alongside the Lifestyle team, we have worked to introduce new activities and increase the number of activities in the lifestyle plan.

It brings me pride to see the activities, both small and big, through from planning to delivery and witnessing the positive impact this has on the residents.

Balaji Ravinath
Head Chef

I first joined Care UK as I was aware of their reputation as one of the UK’s leading care providers. I have a background in hospitality, previously working in London hotels.

As Head Chef you need to be able to demonstrate strong leadership, excellent culinary skills, organisational prowess, adaptability and a keen eye for detail.

It’s my role as team leader to be constantly guiding and inspiring the kitchen team, ensuring smooth operation and creating a memorable dining experience for the residents.

My favourite moment of each day is when I craft a delicious dish and see it come to life in the kitchen and enjoyed by the residents. It brings me immense pride to be leading a happy team, maintaining high standards and achieving consistency in quality.

Our experienced teams

Every day Care UK colleagues live our values of passionate, caring and teamwork to empower residents to enjoy fulfilling lives.

Carers

Our hardworking teams always keep individuals and their families at the heart of the care they provide. We work with you to shape the care your loved one receives, the food they’re served, the activities and experiences they want to do – even the ways they prefer to keep in touch with their friends and family.

Nurses

The nurses at Care UK are highly skilled and receive sector-leading training, which enables them to keep developing expertise in different clinical fields from dementia to palliative care.

Lifestyle

Our dedicated lifestyle teams work hard to organise a range of activities and events at our home. From gardening and baking to quizzes, music sessions and even live entertainment. Above all, we get to know your loved one to make sure our activities are tailored to suit their interests and hobbies.

Home support roles

From catering to maintenance, housekeeping to administration, our home support teams play a crucial part in ensuring individuals enjoy an exceptional and safe service every day.

All our teams get to know each person they care for to ensure they provide a service that’s designed around their unique needs and tastes.

Infection control

Each of our homes have a trained Infection Control and Prevention Champion – they are responsible for carrying out daily infection control audit and ensuring cleaning protocols are meticulously applied.
