I started my career as a medic in the Portuguese Air Force before completing my nursing diploma. I moved to the UK in 2010 and have since worked in the social care sector as a manager. I joined Care UK in 2017.
There’s always a lot to do in my role, but by far my most favourite part of the day is when I walk around the home, checking everything is okay, and chatting to residents, relatives and my team.
I’m enjoying getting to know the residents and welcoming new people into the home. I’m looking forward to making the home one of the best in the area.
I have many years’ experience working in customer service. I previously worked as a practice manager in a dental practice – quite a different sector to care. I was keen to gain experience in a different healthcare-related environment. I joined Knebworth Care Home in August 2018 as a receptionist & have recently taken on the position of Customer Relations Manager.
I am looking forward to working with families at what can be a challenging time, reassuring them andhelping them make the right decision for their loved ones. I’m a naturally caring person, and I’m adaptable and efficient – all of which helps in this role!
In my free time I like to spend time with my family, I am also a keen gym goer, but love getting outdoors for a run.
I’m a Registered Nurse and experienced Clinical lead. I previously worked for Care UK, and returned in 2020 because it’s such a well organised and well run company, with a great reputation for quality care, and for supporting residents, relatives and colleagues.
One of the most enjoyable parts of my role is working alongside clinical colleagues and other teams to achieve the best outcomes for residents. We work well together and we enjoy working together, which makes the day enjoyable, and our jobs much easier.
I’m looking forward to developing my skills and experience at Knebworth care home, to supporting my team to develop their potential, and to working as part of the wider home team to continue to drive up quality – always with the ultimate aim of an ‘outstanding’ CQC rating!
I’ve worked for Care UK since 2017 when Knebworth Care Home became part of Care UK’s portfolio of homes. I was a Senior Healthcare Assistant prior to that.
Here at Knebworth we’re passionate about constantly improving what we do so that we can benefit residents’ lives and those of their families. I love seeing colleagues use their initiative and experience to develop new ways of working that enhance the care we provide.
Knebworth has a piece of my heart. I’ve watched as the home has developed. Seeing that happen, and being able to support my colleagues to succeed and deliver superb care, brings me huge joy.
I’ve worked as an activity coordinator in care homes since 2012 but joined the team at Knebworth after a recommendation from a friend.
To be good at this role you need to be organised, outgoing and a good listener. There’s not a single part of my working day that I don’t enjoy. I have a happy attitude and love having a job that suits my personality. When I’m here it doesn’t feel like I’m working as the staff and residents have become a second family to me.
I joined Care UK and the Knebworth Care Home in 2017 because I wanted to work for a progressive care company. Previously I worked in a private care home. I’m really enjoying my role here: colleagues and the management team are great to work with, and we’ve got a great kitchen here.
I love coming in first thing when the kitchen is quiet and having a coffee and planning the day ahead (you need to be organised in this job). Every day has its highlights: it’s always fantastic to get positive feedback from residents and their families about the food we produce for them.
I joined the team here at Knebworth care home in 2015 and am lucky to work with such a fantastic team. I love that our home is a warm and loving environment that our residents can enjoy. To be good in my role you need to have lots of energy and a big smile – I always try to pass on a smile and kind word!
It’s satisfying to know when I leave for the day that the home is clean, tidy and looks great. I love my work, even on the harder days as I enjoy a challenge.
At Knebworth I'm also the Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) Champion. In essence, my role involves establishing and maintaining a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness so that residents, colleagues and visitors are kept safe. I provide infection control training and am on hand to support our team to work to the highest standards.
I decided to work at Care UK because I wanted to be part of a team with a good reputation. To do well in my role you need to be organised, able to multitask and manage your time. It’s been challenging to learn new systems but what I most enjoy about my job is being able to build relationships and getting to know the residents and my colleges here at the home.
I enjoy working in care because we work hard to provide an excellent service which I find very rewarding. Outside of the home I like to swim, spend time with my friends and walk my dog.
I’m from the local area and started to visit Knebworth in the summer of 2018. I rather liked all the fuss that was made of me here, so I decided to make it my permanent home a couple of months later. At the start, I had a few showdowns with Poppy the resident dog, but she now knows who’s boss.
Whenever I’m not sleeping in one of my 68 bedrooms you can find me hiding under the wet floor signs and jumping out to surprise people. It’s also great fun to chase the vacuum cleaner lead and the mops. I love exploring the garden, and I’ve got a basket full of toys to play with, as well as two brushes so that I always look my best. To be honest, I’ve landed on my feet here at Knebworth care home – but that’s what cats do best!
