Adriana Stefania Bernschutz

Home Manager

Adriana Stefania Bernschutz

I am a qualified General Nurse, and came to the UK after training in Romania.

I chose to work with Care UK as they offer outstanding training, a variety of career pathways, and a friendly, supportive environment, regardless of the role you select.

The desire to help and to actively get involved in the treatment of the patients gives me great fulfilment.

I am now pursuing a degree in Health and Care Management, and I believe that a job in care management is one of the most gratifying careers available.

As a Home Manager, you must be trustworthy, communicative and able to complete a variety of jobs and responsibilities, including acting as manager when needed. I assist the management with making crucial decisions, attend meetings, hire and train new employees, evaluate business performance, prepare reports, and coordinate across many different departments, which demands excellent leadership abilities.

My emphasis is the success of the team and ensuring that everyone meets the objectives.

What motivates me is the knowledge that my hard work and determination will lead to greater professional achievement. Respect, compassion, and dignity are key principles in my opinion, and I am accountable for ensuring good practice in person-centered care as well as guiding and supporting this approach in the employees I supervise.

Sheihnaz Mushtaq
Lifestyle lead

In my previous job as a pharmacy dispenser, I had many elderly customers whom I served day in and day out. I always enjoyed a good chit-chat and listening to the wonderful stories they had to tell as well as serving them and sorting out any problems. I knew I had to be somewhere where I could be myself and be able to serve our elderly.

I joined Lennox House and Care Uk in March 2019 as a Health Care Assistant. I got to know all the residents and bonded really well both with the residents and the team. I took on the Lifestyle Lead role in September 2022 when it was offered to me. I was able to create new and exciting activities for residents so they can enjoy a meaningful lifestyle. I am able to recognize that activity and exercise plays a huge role in the physical and mental well-being of residents.

I enjoy coming into work and seeing residents every day, being able to fulfill their wishes by creating exciting activities, watching the residents smile, laugh and simply a hug makes my day.

Being able to lead and create a warm atmosphere has been a big step for me. I am also proud that I have made positive changes to the lifestyle department and have been lauded by both colleagues and external individuals.

I proud of my role as I am able to be really close to the residents and their families and I am able to create tailored activity plans as well as organising events.

The most important part of my role is creating a stimulating environment for residents- ensuring that their happiness and needs are at the forefront of our home.

Alvina Verma
Clinical Lead

I joined Care UK in 2021 after having worked in other local care homes, as I felt it was a very good company. It is great to work in a diverse environment where equality is key.

With my role as clinical lead, it is important to demonstrate good communication skills with both the staff and family members who visit. I aim to be transparent and trustworthy at all times. I am constantly working to help the team achieve its tasks and goals.

I am passionate about my work and enjoy being in the home. I pick up extra work over weekends and evenings. It brings me pride whenever we receive positive feedback from families, the local council, and other health professionals.

Alison Farr
Lifestyle Coordinator

My area of interest is in dementia care and I am currently studying for an MSc in Dementia at Hull University. I wanted to work with people living with dementia whilst studying.

I have a personal interest in helping those living with dementia, having nursed my father, who had Lewy Body Dementia, for about five years.

Working in the lifestyle team requires patience and an interest in a solutions-based approach to care. If something doesn’t work for, or interest a resident, then we need to adapt and try a different approach or activity.

I consider encouraging other members of the care team to work with a person-centered approach one of the most important parts of my role.

I am passionate about my role as Dementia Care Coach and was delighted when one of the evaluations from my training sessions said that I had changed a carers whole perspective on how to take care of someone with dementia.

I think I’ve got the best job in the world, as I get to make residents’ lives better each day.

Meltem Ozan
Head Chef

I first joined Care UK because I was aware of their reputation within the care sector as a good company to work for.

As Head Chef, you need to be able to demonstrate that you are a good team player, hardworking, have excellent timekeeping, and have good communication skills.

It’s my role as team leader to be constantly guiding and inspiring the kitchen team, ensuring smooth operation, and creating a memorable dining experience for the residents.

I am proud of the good feedback we receive and the satisfaction that our food provides residents.

Shubham Jindal
Business Administrator

I was delighted to join Care UK and Lennox House as being Business Administrator here is a great job role. It’s also fantastic to be working with residents, it feels good to help put a smile on their faces each day.

Working within the home, it is important to be honest, resilient, and hardworking. My job role is varied and my most important responsibility is to make sure the business part of the home is running smoothly.

My favourite part of the day is when I get the opportunity to go and interact with the residents, meeting and greeting each and every one of them.

Working for Care UK and being useful and helpful to my colleagues makes me proud every day.

Jamesha Hodge
Head Housekeeper

I decided to join Care UK as I was interested in learning more about how to take care of people. It is my favourite part of each day working here to know that myself and the team have made a difference to peoples' lives.

As head of the housekeeping team, it is key to have great leadership and communication skills. As well as being respectful and having some personality to build relationships with people. The most important part of my role is meeting families and ensuring their loved ones' possessions are cared for as they should be.

A highlight of my time with Care UK has been winning their award for Exceptional Housekeeping and Exceptional Laundry, and each day it brings me pride to know that residents are cared for.

Alexandru Neagu
Maintenance

I joined Lennox House as I have undertaken nursing studies and have a passion for caring for others, so it is a great environment to use my skills.

Working in the home, it is important to be constantly striving to learn and to be passionate about caring for other people. I am glad to be able to add to my valuable skills by learning something new each day at the home.

I am proud that I am in a position that has an impact on others' lives, and each day I enjoy knowing that the staff, residents and building are safe and well cared for.

It is my most important role to take care of the building and make residents happy.
