Trish Banks

Home Manager

Trish Banks

I am a dual qualified and registered adult and children’s Nurse with 40 years of experience.

I spent 25 years in the NHS in a variety of roles, from Registered General Nurse to Paediatric Ward Manager. I left the NHS in 2007 after completing a Level 5 Leadership & Management course in order to manage a care home.

For seven years I ran a care home with an independent provider, but after my mum was diagnosed with dementia, I decided I wanted to join Care UK to experience what high-quality dementia care was like. I spent four years managing another Care UK care home before joining the team at Mill View.

Being a Home Manager carries huge responsibilities. You have to be a good communicator and have a passion for caring for others. However busy it gets, I take the time to walk around the home and speak with residents, relatives and colleagues. It always reminds me what differences we're making in peoples’ lives.

Teamwork is a big part of our role too. You need to enjoy the company of others and involve everyone in making the home a nice place to live. My team is amazing, and I look forward to working with them every day.

When I’m not at work, I love spending time with my husband and two rescue dogs who we adore. When I can, I also like to travel up north to see my children and grandson. But most days you’ll find me pottering in the garden or curled up with a good book – I love thrillers!

Beverly Jordan
Customer Relations Manager

I spent 26 years selling beds, gloves and consumables to care homes. I joined Care UK because it felt like it was time to come and work in a care home! My role involves welcoming potential new residents and their families into the home and showing them the difference we can make to their lives.

I love the variety of this job: going from doing a show-round to organising the paperwork for a new resident’s admission, and then having a chat and a giggle with some of the residents. How many jobs enable you to do that?!

One of the best things about my job is seeing a new resident settling in and enjoying life. Particularly if they’ve had a stay in hospital, being in lovely, calm surroundings and enjoying personalised care, activities and tasty food makes all the difference to them.

Raluca Tuhan
Business Administrator

I waited for four years for a role to open up at Mill View – I used to pass it every day and hope that I could find a perfect role at Care UK! I wanted to work for an employer that invests in its people, where I’d be seen as a person and not just a number on the payroll. This is why Care UK is different.

When you love what you’re doing, it doesn’t feel like you’re working. The time goes so quickly, and you end up looking forward to the day ahead.

There are so many parts of my job that I love, from the gratitude from my colleagues when I help them, to seeing someone progressing in their career with us and knowing I had a part in it.

I look forward to continuing to see the smiles from residents that greet me in the morning, to hear their stories and laughter and experience the friendliness of my colleagues.

In the time I have for myself, I’m learning to play the guitar. Learning my favourite rock songs is so relaxing!

Alexandra Bolohan
Business Administrator

I first joined Care UK in 2015 and have developed within the company from working as a Team Leader for over four years to my current role. When I come to work, I feel like I’m seeing my second family and I love that the staff are very friendly and dedicated.

To be successful in this role I believe you need to love your role and enjoy what you are doing. You also need to be caring, have respect, and positivity – a smile can turn someone’s day around so much.

I love the interaction with the residents, my favourite part of the day is greeting them and having a chat with them. I love seeing the smiles on their faces and seeing them happy.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my little boy, and I love reading books and listening to music.

Nurses

The nurses at Care UK are highly skilled and receive sector-leading training, which enables them to keep developing expertise in different clinical fields from dementia to palliative care.

Home support roles

From catering to maintenance, housekeeping to administration, our home support teams play a crucial part in ensuring individuals enjoy an exceptional and safe service every day.
