Appleby House care home invites people in Epsom to celebrate Care Home Open Day

May 26th 2016

Care UK’s Appleby House care home in Epsom is inviting local people to visit the home on Longmead Road on Friday 17th June to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

From 2pm until 4pm, the team at Appleby House will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.

There will be a ‘right royal knees up’ at Appleby House to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday with a fun street party, complete with traditional decorations and refreshments.

Shona Bradbury, home manager at Appleby House, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents through building lasting relationships with the local community across the generations.

“Opening our doors is also a great opportunity to show what life is really like in a modern care home; and we hope to change any preconceptions people might have while also showing everything Appleby House has to offer.

“We have got a fun day of activities planned and are really looking forward to getting behind Care Home Open Day on Friday 17th June and welcoming the people of Epsom to be a part of it.”

Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Appleby House will also be able to pick up their copy of Care UK’s Eating as we Age.  The latest in a series of free guides for family carers, Eating as we age is packed with hints and tips for keeping healthy and hydrated in older age.  The guide can also be downloaded free at
