Banbury care home Deputy Manager named ‘healthcare hero’

Home news

A Banbury care home is celebrating after one of its team members won a national accolade.

Charlotte Levin, Deputy Home Manager at Care UK’s Highmarket House, on North Bar Place, has been named Healthcare Hero at the Knight Frank awards.

Banbury care home Deputy Manager named ‘healthcare hero’This year, the Knight Frank Healthcare Heroes Awards aimed to highlight individuals within the healthcare sector who have gone above and beyond throughout the pandemic.

In the first lockdown, Charlotte stepped up to support the home manager, helping to ensure the smooth running of the home while continuing to provide emotional support for the rest of the team. She also went above and beyond for residents and made sure their wishes were respected wherever possible, no matter how difficult.

To keep the morale up, Charlotte got involved in many of the activities and special days at the home, including dressing up as the Easter Bunny to deliver chocolates to residents on Easter Sunday, and serving a special afternoon tea dressed as the Queen of Hearts, leading to her receiving a Care UK Hero Award earlier this year.

Charlotte said: “This has been a strange and challenging year for everyone, but especially for those working and living in care homes. It was important for all of us to keep everyone’s morale up and maintain a sense of normality for residents where possible – this was very much a team effort, but I’m very pleased to have been named a Healthcare Hero.

“The past year has brought us even closer together, and have truly reinforced just how important the service we provide for residents and their families is. I’m incredibly proud of how hard the team has worked, supporting  me and the rest of the leadership team at the home – they are all heroes in my eyes.”

Jo Pohl, Home Manager at Highmarket House, added: “I’m incredibly happy to see Charlotte’s hard work being recognised for the second time this year. In these challenging times, she truly was a beacon of light for residents and team members alike, and brought that special energy to the home that made everything a bit easier. I’d like to say a big thank you to Charlotte for everything she does on a daily basis, whether that be writing thank you cards for team members or dressing up to serve residents’ afternoon team – the home wouldn’t be the same without her. Congratulations, Charlotte!”
