Tall Trees care home on Oaks Place welcomed the people of Colchester through its doors for an event to celebrate Care Home Open Day.
Tall Trees was one of thousands of care homes across the UK which took part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with even more people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.
Everyone got into the party spirit at the Tall Trees open day, with a Rio Carnival-themed event complete with Brazilian-influenced food and cocktails. Residents and visitors enjoyed live entertainment, and there was plenty of family-friendly fun with Olympic-inspired games.
Alice Banda, home manager at Tall Trees, said: “Our doors are always open, but Care Home Open Day was a brilliant opportunity to celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike. We all are proud of the warm and welcoming quality care environment we have created here at Tall Trees, and we took great delight in showcasing our home and all the good work we do here.
“The wet weather did nothing to dampen our spirits, we brought the games and activities indoors and the day was a real success. Everyone enjoyed getting involved in the activities and building on our links with the local community.”
