The Terrace care home on Maison Dieu welcomed the people of Richmond through its doors for an event to celebrate Care Home Open Day.
The Terrace was one of thousands of care homes across the UK which took part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with even more people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.
It was party time at The Terrace with the event held in honour of the Queen’s 90th birthday. The highlight of the day was a wartime sing-a-long led by vocalist, Hannah Hart, with music provided by representatives from The Army; and everyone enjoyed cream teas and homemade cakes.
Nicola Wilkins, home manager at The Terrace said: “Our doors are always open, but Care Home Open Day was a brilliant opportunity to celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike. We all are proud of the warm and welcoming quality care environment we have created here at The Terrace, and we took great delight in showcasing our home and all the good work we do here.
“The day was a real success, and everyone enjoyed getting involved in the activities and building on our links with the local community.”
