The new arrangement sees Care UK operating an out-of-hours centre and supplying GPs as part of an agreement with Essex Ambulance Service, who will provide telephone advice, triage and home visits. The service, which commences on 1st January, will include the provision of a new out-of-hours centre, to be located near Southend Hospital's A&E department, which will see patients via appointment who have called their GP surgery out-of-hours.
Mike Parish, Care UK's Chief Executive said, "I am delighted that we have been successful in winning this important contract. To be working in partnership with Essex Ambulance Service in such an innovative way shows how well equipped Care UK is to deliver solutions to the NHS. The contract fits well with our strategy to provide a balanced portfolio of health and social care solutions, including both in and out-of-hours primary care."
