In celebration of Care Home Open Day on 17th June, Mildenhall Lodge care home welcomed the local community for a Rio-inspired carnival event.
Residents, relatives and visitors enjoyed a live Latin-American style band, fancy dress, cocktails and a buffet lunch. Mildenhall Lodge was one of thousands of care homes to take part in Care Home Open Day this year with the aim of challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting residents with even more people in their community, and developing relationships across the generations.
Katy Hughes, home manager at Mildenhall Lodge, said: “It was a wonderful day and we were delighted to see so many local people. Residents had a brilliant day and it was great to strengthen our relationships with the wider community.”
Visitors to the Care Home Open Day event at Mildenhall Lodge were also able to pick up their free copies of Care UK’s advice guides, including ‘Listen, talk, connect’, ‘As Easy as ABC’, ‘Good to Go’ and the new ‘Eating as we age’ guide which provides practical tips and recipe ideas for eating well in older age. For those who didn’t pick up a copy on the day, the free guides can be downloaded online at careuk.com/support-for-carers.
