A wish came true for a 93-year-old resident at Field Lodge when he was reunited with his brother.
Bernard Sadler, a resident at Field Lodge was taken on a special trip to meet his brother, John, for a surprise reunion in celebration of Bernard’s birthday.
The brothers, who hadn’t seen each other for four years, reminisced over their childhood days, sang songs that they used to sing with their mother, and remembered their loved ones. The pair also had a good catch-up about what they had been up to in the years since they last met over a delicious birthday meal.
Bernard said: “I have really enjoyed visiting John, and the surprise trip has made my 93rd birthday a special day to remember. I was over the moon to meet up my brother again after all these years – I was completely lost for words when I realised where we were, and couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw John and Bet open the front door!
“I can’t thank the team at Field Lodge enough for taking me to see my brother – it was fantastic to share these memories with John again.”
Linda Martinez, home manager at Field Lodge, added: “Bernard has been telling stories about his childhood, and the antics that he and his brother used to get up to. Everyone at the home enjoyed reminiscing with him and we knew we had to make Bernard’s birthday a day to remember with this special reunion.
“We always like to go the extra mile to grant resident wishes and I am really pleased that we were able to make Bernard’s birthday wish a reality.I’d like to say a huge thank you to the Field Lodge team for arranging the trip, and thank you to John and Bet for being wonderful hosts.”
