Britten Court is inviting local people to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.
On Saturday 29th June, from 11.30am - 4pm, the team at Britten Court will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event to celebrate Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
This year’s theme celebrates the role of arts within care, which is important in encouraging residents’ self-expression, and helps to create meaningful experiences.
Britten Court has organised an art-themed party to celebrate the open day, with entertainment, activities and creative fun. Visitors can look forward toa celebration party inspired by ‘The Greatest Showman’, with games, stalls, face painting and a photo booth. There will also be live entertainment from Seagull Strummers, the chance to meet donkeys from Hemsby Wellbeing Centre, and a dog agility display complete with a meet and greet to get to know the four-legged friends.
Chloe Swarbrick, home manager at Britten Court, said: “Care Home Open Day is such a wonderful opportunity for our home to connect with the local community and show what it’s really like to live in a care home. We’re counting down the days until we welcome the people of Lowestoft into Britten Court.
“The residents are really excited to showcase their artistic skills, and we’re all particularly looking forward to meeting the donkeys that will be visiting. I know the residents and community are going to have a great time!”
