Investment in Gillingham treatment centre improves dignity and service for patients

May 16th 2017

Patients in the Medway area are set to benefit as a new post-operative recovery suite and consultation rooms are announced at Will Adams NHS Treatment Centre.

The improvements at the centre in Gillingham are designed to increase patient comfort and safety. New walled areas and toilets will also increase privacy and give more opportunities for single-sex areas for treatment, helping to deliver the NHS commitment.

Ben Howes, the centre’s operations manager, who has overseen the improvements, said: “The new, dedicated recovery room gives a peaceful place for patients recovering from a general anaesthetic where they will be supported by our medical team before they are returned to the ward. The two new consultation rooms will allow people to meet with consultants in a comfortable environment and we will be able to increase the amount of consultations within the session.”

Hospital director Kerry White said: “Maintaining our patients’ dignity throughout their treatment is very important to our team and we believe these improvements will make people feel comfortable and secure. The expansion of the consultation rooms also marks our further progress in improving and increasing our services for the benefit of people across the Medway area.”

Care UK runs Will Adams NHS Treatment Centre on behalf of the NHS and has invested more than £150,000 in the improvements.
