Children from local schools have been learning about the city’s heritage to help name the suites at Harrier Lodge.
Pupils from Joy Lane Primary School and Whitstable Junior School took part in a competition to name the four suites at Harrier Lodge.
The children put their heads together to come up with a list of names that have cultural or historical sigificance to them and the local area, and these were then whittled down to the top four by the Care UK team.
When Harrier Lodge opens in January 2019,the suites will be known as: ‘Pebble Suite’, ‘Oyster Suite’, ‘Sea Shell Suite’, and ‘Driftwood Suite’, dedicated to the coastal town’s connection to the seaside and its beautiful shingle beaches.
Care UK presented the winning children with individual book vouchers to say thank you for all their hard work.
Angi Knight, regional director at Care UK, said: “As we prepare to welcome the first residents, the all-important naming of the suites within the care home is a key consideration, and we thought thispresented an excellent opportunity to work with local schools, and to get to know our neighbours a little better.
“The ideas the pupils put forward were all of a very high standard, and we’re really pleased with the four final names.”
